Jakara began painting and exhibiting in Saugatuck, Michigan at the age of 5 under the instruction of Cora Bliss Taylor. At the age of 14, Jakara began attending OxBow in Saugatuck, Michigan. In the winters, Jakara continued her art education on the weekends at the Art Institute in Chicago as well as art classes through her highschool and, continued through College majoring in Art History and ongoing classes in style and technique. Working primarily in acrylic, oil, oil pastel, charcoal, water color and photography.
Having been the feature story in the online art newspaper, Art Expo News hailed Jakara as an artist to watch. Jakara has been flying under the radar art scene and, now has emerged as one of the art scene's who's who in recent months. This artist has captured the public with a fresh, original, and a new view of abstract contemporary art. The titles on her art pieces are as significant as the art piece itself. The use of vibrant colors and textures all play into each unique piece. Jakara has an extensive art background and combines her technique and personality into each and every painting, capturing the eye of the art community.
